OK, I have registered new version 13 in the Plugin Portal and created its accompanying update center catalog:

[1] https://netbeans-vm1.apache.org/pluginportal/data/13/catalog.xml.gz

It is empty now but from this moment all plugin owners can request verifications of their plugins in Apache NetBeans 13 which will populate the catalog soon.

Geertjan/Neil, once the 13 RC3 is approved by the community as FCS please update the redirection rule from https://netbeans.apache.org/nb/plugins/13/catalog.xml.gz to https://plugins.netbeans.apache.org/data/13/catalog.xml.gz which will finally translate to [1].

This is described in our release README Wiki here: https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/NETBEANS/Apache+NetBeans+Release+README#ApacheNetBeansReleaseREADME-7.UpdatingredirectforNetBeansDistributionUpdateCenter

Hope this helps,

Enhancing the module system itself to support ranges might also be
good? eg. if we can set an upper bound instead of just lower bound
for OpenIDE-Module-Java-Dependencies: this could disable the nb-javac
module when running on a later JDK.

I can imagine upper bounds for Java version having further use in future too!

thats exactly what i suggested, but I got the impression that this
option was not desired. (maybe I got the wrong impression?)

Well, it is by me anyway. I'd made the suggestion about
OpenIDE-Module-Java-Dependencies and ranges in the on-list discussion
on this already.

It would also be great if it could just be disabled and stay that way.
That might be due to this ?

the second best thing would be a warning dialog which explains the
situation. (i have been focusing on the removal of dialogs this release,
maybe we can add a new one next release to balance it out :))

:-)

Thank you for those btw! I think they're one of a number of key
things that give NetBeans 13 a much better OOTB experience.

Best wishes,

Neil
