This is an area that I have some interest in.  The Xindice stuff done earlier 
this year may be of some help.  Let me know when you guys sort out how many 
angels can dance on the tip of a pin.  This eventuality may be over thinking 
design a bit much.

I think the point David is making (and I hope I'm not misquoting ;-) )
 is that you could potentially 
have two people trying to change the same system settings - a
