To take a shot at answering my own question. Couple things come to mind.
- We had some good fixes made to dbcp around connection leaks. Going to need to make a new "deps/commons-dbcp-all" module for that - Wanted to get constructor injection turned on and an example for it -- we added it to xbean-reflect, just haven't turned it on.
