The snapshot-checking goal has been implemented.
As it seems my committer credentials will be forthcoming soon, I figure I'll
wait and apply the patch myself.
If anyone wants to see the code, it's in a git branch here:

I have a few other enhancement concepts which I can't get to now. I'll create
issues for those so I don't forget :)
