Hi,
So can we somehow get that "second product" on the main page and
probably start some other marketing efforts for it?
Hmm... I must confess I was not that aware of this second product (I
have seen it a couple of times, but I'm not in the target audience). I
will have a look on how to add this. I think this second product (UDK)
and the third product (SDK) are targeted towards the somewhat the
audience (it may overlap)? But could someone please describe them both
seperately in 1 easy to understand sentence?
What is also confusing is I think developers and developers. You have
developers contributing to the OOo source base, and developers using
tools (if I understood it correctly these are UDK and SDK (to different
degrees)) to program things upon this source base.
Ingrid, do you agree with my point of view so far (I'm trying it to
summarize where we are now)? I do think UDK and SDK need more attention
on the home page, but not 'your' chart product. It's maybe disappointing
to see that the thread you started leads me to this point of view... but
the problems are separate. You 'simply' need more developers, while UDK
and SDK also need new users (which are also programmers, but are end
users of the tools delivered by OpenOffice.org). The need for more
developers should imho be stilled by improving the product and/or
contributing page...
The thing that the team working on that thing likes to find ways to
attract potential developers better like every other team also does is
of course also there and as valid as for every other team. But the
thing that the UDK project is offering a "second product" makes that
distinct and makes it even more urgent to have this project become
prominent on the main page.
Always though decision... but I really like is being discussed here.
