Back to the this...from a very simplistic standpoint.
OK, I am back to JUST dealing with the Projects page, i.e. the one
accessed from the tab. Maybe I can summarize what I see are a few of the
very good points made so far...
1. Mathias suggested even mentioning the categories was too much, and
should be omitted. I agree with this, categories don't mean much to
anyone by the folks dealing with the internal organization of OO.org and
this provides not much valuable information to outsiders
2. Frank thought we should use mozilla (and I take it he meant the
Projects area of mozilla.org) to emulate. OK, after looking at this in
detail just now, I love it! This is EXACLTY what we should include at a
minimum on a starting Projects page -- a nice categorizing of our
projects and what they do...and, the few project pages I did look at did
have some nice information about what the project is working on --
something Clytie suggested as well I think.
I know I'm leaving a LOT of the discussion from the past week or so out
because a lot of it had to do with links from the home page to other
things...that I don't feel directly pertains to this at the moment.
Assuming we can at least agree on trying to do something similar to what
mozilla.org has for their starting Projects page,
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/
I will be happy to try to get put something like that together for us to
critique and add to. It would be ever so nice to be able to generate
such a stylized something like this from a servlet, but mayeb we can nag
someone else about this at some point.
OK, more later...
