Put both, then: i18n (Internationalization) or i18n — Internationalizationbecause that makes it easier for non-English speakers to spot. Long words, especially for people who don't use a Roman alphabet, are much harder to identify.
Anyone already involved in i18n will recognize the abbreviation, and be looking for it to start with.
