Hmm, maybe you could see whether you can integrate/align the content with
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Website/Content/help ? Don't want
to spend any time on the issue... but I want to prevent duplicate texts...
so if there is any explanation of the mailinglist in the wiki page
referred to above, please make it link to a separate page, explaining how
the user mailinglists works...
Agree to see that as a target.
What I see If I look at the current contact page, is a webmaster that is
increasingly bothered by badly directed support requests, and therefore
puts new, better, more and clearer explanation on top of the page, over
and over again, to prevent all that mail ;-)
Also I think we should keep support and the general contact page separate.
Under contact I would actually expect to see a physical address etc., and
just a link to where to get direct support. (something along the lines of:
"Our support pages offer various ways of getting in touch with people who
can offer support"
I would create a separate page explaining how the user mailinglists
works... a page that can be part of the support pages...
In general I would advice: target just one audience per page. create links
to /other/ pages if you think the wrong audience may end up there by
accident; don't try to accommodate for both audiences on the same page.
Many people look for the contact page and hit the first mail-to that
they see. If there will remain a contact page, this has to be taken into
account.
But your remarks are true and valuable. I'll take them into account as well.
And for the moment, I think my first draft is rather an improvement
compared to the current page. So if anyone is willing to use it at this
moment, pls do so.
Regards,
Cor
