Hi, Kay,
Very nice, a major improvement. Other comments interpolated.

OK...I spent quite a bit of time on this today, and yeah, it needed a
LOT of cleaning up and ????? We had an extra section that didn't even
conform to the other styles on this page that I incorporated into other
areas as I saw fit, for example.

the revised version is at--

Please let me know if you have any immediate concerns...if not, I'll put
this out for "real" early next week.

Only one possible concern: do we need some Oracle logos on the Oracle-referencing entries?
A couple of small suggestions:
* That first sentence, with all those links, might look better and read easier as a bulleted list. * The publication-year at the upper right of the book entries might be more useful on the left, under the version designator.

You'll note that I did a "Return on Investment" section (yes, this isn't
really support but most of this was *buried* on the other page), before
additional free and commercial support. My feeling on this is that we
ought to highlight the work of our new parent Oracle, and it seems they
just did a revision of these items.

+1

And, one of my other rather "major" concerns is the lack of a setup
guide for the 3.x product line...anybody know anything about this?

AFAIK, this is in the "Getting Started with" Guide (Chapter 2). -- /tj/

And, I went to the Oracle site and can't find anything specific on
*their* paid for support, so I just linked to their FAQ page on Oracle
Open Office. I'm not sure about the validity of mentioning "commercial"
support when this support is really for the commercial version of the
product, which is Oracle Open Office. and not OpenOffice.org. But since
searchers may well end up on the OO.o site, it may be worth keeping by
titling a different way -- maybe "Commercial Support for Oracle Open
Office". and ps. it might be nice to know if the consultants page is
still valid.

Finally, I don't really like the LONG list for Books, esp mentioning
ones for 1.x. Can we eliminate them?

Hi *,

Some time ago a student of me made an _IMHO - useful suggestion for the
support page:
http://support.openoffice.org/index.html

In short: put most important links on the screen directly visible. Say
forum and users@
Maybe something in the direction of
http://download.openoffice.org/index.html, where few big banners are shown.
Could something like that be useful for support as well? Of course
together with a link to all more detailed support info.

Thanks for your attention,

Cor
