I think that a meeting could be a good way to kick-start this sub-project, and to initialize a kind of plan. I would be interested in attending this meeting. The first and most important thing for the project is the definition of some benchmark tests. Otherwise we will never know what the influence would be of any change the project would implement. We could also make some blind changes, as we have done for a long time now, which may have some effect, but it is hard to tell.. E.g. the next blind change which we may consider may come from doubting the need for synchronisation of MMObjectBuilder#getNode which Kees smartly remarked yesterday.
