IMP sends messages with SMTP, not IMAP.

That's a log of an SMTP transaction, which is what you'd expect from
IMP -- and also what you'd expect from Outlook, or Eudora, or any
other mail client. I don't see where Courier comes in at all.

(Note that IMP may perform both an SMTP transaction and an IMAP
transaction when sending mail if you've told IMP to store outgoing
mail in a sent-mail folder; they're still independent, unrelated
transactions that happen to occur at the same time.)
