Hi Jose,

O common Jose, they have to update the whole system every 4 to 6 months
:))))

I have participated in l10n of smoothwall and it wasn't that much. If we
make a big translation group you could get the basics quite fast (a couple of
days) and the manual a much longer time.

As Gordon has said from version to version things wont change too much and
you would be able to reutilise most of the work.

Indeed in a big translation project there are a couple of problems much
more relevant:

  * Coordination.- I think there should be a coordinator for every language.
I volunteer to coordinate the spanish efforts. Also, it might be a good idea
to use some kind of versioning tool. CVS is great for this, does Mitel plan
to facilitate this to the translators?

  * Common lexicon.- This was a BIG problem. Unless you use some kind od
"standard" you would get really loussy translations. You have to use the same
words to refer to the same things, etc. For example, in the particular case
of spanish you could just call if firewall or cortafuegos as both are
accepted or understood but the first is an anglicism and the second the
correct spanich word. As localization to spanish has been done quite well in
other projects, there are some documents of interest to all people involved
in a translation to spanish. Most of them are in Proyecto LUCAS
(lucas.hispalinux.org) The most important is the ORCA dictionary to use
everyone the same words.

OK, just a last question, can I get only the po file without the need to
download all the iso image. As you know we have a very slow connection and
dont want to download everything just for the po file. Maybe a rsync download
from 5.1.2 version would be OK? (This is the last iso image I have)

Regards, and again, great job it was one of the things that really stopped
us to jump to this new releases.

  Thanks.
