Totally, completely agree here. I think we're saying the same thing.

The goal is to make users think of a key index identifier (like
"modelrockets") as the identifier for the index itself, and NOT as a
pattern for the inserted key.

By which I mean: tell users "freegle-keys" rather than the complicated
"freegle-keys-yymmdd". In fact, *I* think you should tell them
"freegle", but it's OK if you want to keep multiple indices.

I'd be willing to get a new release (0.3.8.1, we hardly knew thee) in
the next few days to get this working for you, if you'll stick with
the simple key index identifier.
