I find MediaWiki far easier to use; it's overkill, but that doesn't
much matter.  If it's easier to use, it's easier to keep up to date.

Among other things, the current search sucks (making it hard to use
the wiki to answer a question), there aren't redirects (making it hard
to find the correct page), and we don't have categories and other
navigational aids.  Moving to MediaWiki would make it far easier for
users to get information from the wiki, and therefore a more
attractive place to keep documentation.
