That's kind of useless flame. Personally, I find Haskell to be a very beautiful (and useful) language. Just because it isn't meant for all tasks doesn't mean its "ivory tower bullshit". C#, F#, and Scala are all JITed, and JIT compilation has been known to perform quite well in recent benchmarks. Even Java has the potential to be "as fast as C".
