I'd like to research this more.  Is the rsync man section that you refer
to ADVANCED USAGE?

Based on the way the man page reads it will dump the directories into
the same destination.  That's not what I (and I think others) want.  I
want to retain the path in the overall tree.  Let's do a test . . .

$ rsync -a [EMAIL PROTECTED]:'/var/named /home/Users/jtmoree/scripts' test/
$ ls test/
named  scripts

As I said, I want to see var and home in the test directory.  so if it
works as I want I should see

test/var
test/var/named
test/home/
test/home/Users
test/home/Users/jtmoree
test/home/Users/jtmoree/scripts

In short, rsync with multiple source paths does not yield the best results.
