do you have a list of issues posted somewhere?  I'm guessing regression
testing is at the top?

* regression tests
* clean options handling
* loose coupling
* tight cohesion
* . . .

I'm all for a rewrite and am willing to help.  I didn't like the code
when I looked at it.  I don't know enough about the internals of dirvish
to know where objects and code re-use are going to be most useful but if
someone else can make those decisions I can write some modules and
regression tests.  or just functions and regression tests but putting
them in objects generally makes for easier testing and updating.
