A side effect of the proposal that the registry push out changes (drop and adds) to the registrars is that the registrar would in effect have a real-time snapshot of all names that are taken. Thus "check" commands from opensrs resellers can be answered directly from opensrs which would result in *much* quicker response times. win-win-win-win (registry, registrar, reseller, end user), it doesn't get much better than that :-) The only down side is that it will take some work on the registry and registrar side to get such a system in place. I have a feeling getting the registry to do anything will be quite a bit of work... It took me about 15 emails and a week or two for them to change an ftp password for zonefile access. Then I notified them that their ftp server was b0rken. Their answer was basically: yeah we know, sorry, we aren't going to fix it. So now everyone has to code around it... -joe
