Only a few weeks ago we were talking about this also.
It is obvious that most of us think that lookups are slow... because they
simply are and they we'll be more and more as more TLDs appear. Is pretty
obvious that if someone searches for abcd.com, we want to offer him if net,
org, info, biz, cc, maybe .ca and .uk, and soon .name, .eu... god knows is
available. Not to say if we want to suggest at least 3 similar names, with
all extensions... who said "2 seconds"?

Is quite clear that OpenSRS should really work on this, by means of
improving the API (one only connection for all extensions/names), mirroring
the lookups to other servers or any other alternative that makes us ahead of
competitor ICANN registrars.

I do not want to make a simple criticize to OpenSRS but it some time seems
as the development team is not growing us much as the resellers and volume
of domain registrations. Simple things seem to take months to be implemented
god knows why. I am thinking for example of the loooong discussion with
details of RSP in WHOIS information... I just looked at it again... and no
change yet... we were only talking about making some fields optional for god
sake. What is the "big" complication here?
