I am considering having a small server system built for me based on the new Pentum D ("http://ark.intel.com/products/87039/Intel-Xeon-Processor-D-1540-12M-Cache-2_00-GHz";).

Pentum D (D-1540) is a Broadwell-based server-oriented SOC (14nm) with Ethernet and SATA/AHCI interfaces built into the SOC. This makes for very good power efficiency (45W for whole SOC). There are duplex gigabit and duplex 10 gigabit interfaces built in to the SOC. It is not clear to me what the Ethernet interfaces are similar to, but presumably they are compatible with previous Intel Ethernet interfaces.

Is there any reason for concern that Illumos (e.g. as provided with OmniOS) won't just boot and work properly on these new CPUs?
