Wow! I botched the thread subject line and even the class of processor. Sorry about that.

The CPU/SOC which would be used is indeed the Intel Xeon D-1540 CPU.

I am not sure how to characterize the comment about "asy.conf weirdness" since it does not mean anything to me. The board specification still says "coming soon" so it may be that there are still hardware/firmware bugs which are being worked out. The issue may not be related to Illumos itself.
