I assume that Joyent (or some other interested party) is already planning to do the updates for the new 10 GbE interfaces. Is that a fair assumption?

Someone else who booted an SMCI version had a weird issue with asy that
we hadn't gotten to the bottom of and I have some samples coming in over
the next few weeks which I'm hoping to use to enable the new features in
Broadwell over the coming months; however, aside from ixgbe, everything
else should work (some stuff we just won't take advantage of).

The system I would have built is based on SuperMicro hardware.

I like it that Pentium D is so well integrated and requires so little power compared with its apparent good performance. The system reliability should be improved by requiring so few components. I will use only SSDs so the power savings should be realized.
