Sorry, I bet I was mislead: the boy at CloudSigma did not install the desktop version, but the text only one, that's why I don't see the entries for the splash image.... What happens, then, is that the grub has a background image for the boot menu, and once boot starts, that image does not disappear for sometime: it usually would get away at boot and leave the screen to the kernel text banner. This appears a lot later though... During install, the boot process is different, all text, so the kernel text banner appears as soon as the booting "...." finish. I'm checking with the guys if they can provide me a floppy drive to see if something changes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Da: Alexander Pyhalov A: [email protected] Cc: Gabriele Bulfon Data: 24 settembre 2015 9.37.28 CEST Oggetto: Re: Correcting: [discuss] illumos hosting offerings On 09/24/2015 10:10, Gabriele Bulfon wrote: Yes, I know the changes in menu.lst, if only I had access to the system and to that file! :) I only have access to the grub boot menu, but I can't see a way to change this from there by editing... I'm with you with the happy face boot (I know this code name LOL it's all around the text-install code!), but this is our standard XStream Desktop install, meant for gui addicted ;) Hello, you can choose "edit menu" (e) from grub boot menu and delete entries referring to background, splash image and so on. -- Best regards, Alexander Pyhalov, system administrator of Southern Federal University IT department
