you've just changed the driver aliases. nge driver does support mcp61 chipset. what i'm understanding is your hang is possibly due to send/receive of packets for a long! is that leading to problem? cause your both nge, nv_sata driver need to be verified. could you dtrace the calls on both nge, nv_sata.
might be nv_sata/ide driver issues on heavy data though-put. one way to check is disable/uninstall the nge, and verify if the problem still persists. you may use the external nic adapter meantime. cause is lvl-triggered so cpu is 100%.
