Yahoo's ypatterns includes a list of 'intersting moments' related
to drag-and-drop, the idea being that you choose which are relevant
for your implementation and identify how to address each:

The Fluid Project (based in Toronto, with a mission of improving ux
of community source software) has done a great deal of user testing
of drag-and-drop and offers a design pattern addressing ypatterns'
