The problem I keep running into with password managers is that the more
portable they are, the less integrated they are; especially with clipboard
syncing, it's less than ideal to use the clipboard to relay passwords
between the password manager and an application, and if possible I'd prefer
to limit the window system's involvement (granting that at some point the
password will appear as window system events...). But applications such as
Keepass don't integrate well with browsers (I did find one plugin for
Chrome but it appears to be system dependent). This is especially annoying
since I am being pulled back into Solaris-based ecosystems where it's
pointless to expect native password management.

Since my primary systems are OS X, I'm still using 1Password as my password
manager; 1PasswordAnywhere, while less than ideal because of clipboard
involvement, works on any platform with a browser that supports Javascript.
(I could imagine Javascript interface enhancements which would improve the
general level of system integration --- but do not particularly trust the
idea in general because of other ways such enhancements could be used.)

(There is actually a program which attempts to provide native 1Password
integration for Linux and which looks like it would be easily ported to
other X11 systems. It's still very early alpha, though, and works rather
poorly with the number of passwords / accounts I have. I'm also a bit
dubious about how it's hooked in; I'd prefer it used grabs instead of
abusing the RECORD extension. http://icculus.org/1pass/ I haven't decided
yet whether I want to invest effort into trying to make it saner.)
