I don't think I was really expecting to be able to fix this, but sometimes one has to ask on the offchance that there is an answer out there... of course, it even helps to try and understand the question. See my answer above. The really sad part is that the CEO does not want any more direct reports, so he has an "administrative" VP who owns IT amongst other things. Thus there is no CIO, no C* representation. So maybe I continue to stare out of the window and contemplate the possibilities.
