I'm interested. I did some articles on logging for ;login in 2013/early 2014 and
have been meaning to continue the series now that I don't have to fight my
manager to get something approved.

Craig,
I really like this idea. Is there anyone else on the list who is would
like to help out with at group to draft a few papers for submission to
LISA? If you are interested, please reply to me and we will get the
ball rolling.

I'm glad! Usenix has the resources, and the experience (eg, ;Login:)
to do it. Also, their doing it means LOPSA won't be distracted into
trying to do it. ("distracted" because LOPSA does not have the
resources to do it well.)
My second thought was: It would be neat if LOPSA formed some ad hoc
committees to draft papers for submission. Imagine LOPSA drafting a
best-practices paper and publishing it in the first JESA edition.
Let's let Usenix be the vehicle, and LOPSA be the voice of the
professionals.

USENIX is proud to announce the creation of The USENIX Journal of
Education in System Administration. JESA will bring together
researchers, educators and experts from a variety of
disciplines—ranging from informatics, information technology,
computer science, networking, system administration, security and
pedagogics—to create a body of peer-reviewed, high-quality work
addressing the challenges in system administration education.
