My first thought is pragmatic...

Is "The Guide" a separate thing from "The SABoK"? I think it is/should be,
conceptually separate.

a) "SABok" is a thing. It's composed of the information on sabok.org.
b) "The Guide to the SABok" seems to be the 'introduction' page on the web
site; It explains the SABoK.
c) The thing for JESA submission is "An Introduction to the SysAdmin Body of
Knowledge"

I fear this all sounds like trivial nitpicking on my part, but these sorts of
semantics really help (me at least) wrap my brain around a new thing when I
first encounter it.

Thanks to Mark Burgess, Ski Kacoroski and Carolyn Rowland for reviewing the
initial draft and their suggestions:

* summarize the effort represented by the BOK. List of literature/summary
sounds like a very valuable thing, but it will take quite a bit of work.
* show how this relates to other efforts in this area such as opsschool, sans,
stackexchange, spiceworks, and other system admin resources. Clearly place
this effort in the landscape of system administration resources.
* give an end to end example of how some content in the BoK can be used for
education, training, and qualification (gedanken experiment or real life) to
show people your vision for the BoK.
* Give numbers as to why system administration is so important.
* Expand the reading list using the thread in LOPSA-discuss that drich started
a bit ago.
* "Next steps" needs to include concrete, measurable things that are next on
the list to be done such as move to a wiki, get content on Y, get contributors,
etc. (this is our call for help)
* Email the JESA chairs and let them know what we're trying to do (get the word
out about SABOK and solicit participation from Academia). Then they can look at
what you've got and think about how it could fit in the journal. (Maybe a short
paper is not the right format.)

I've been tied up with business (I'm on-boarding my employee #1 - milestone
after five years of running the business part-time and five months full-time)
but I am "motivated", as Craig said, to put a mention of SABOK in JESA; we'll
squeeze this in somehow. Help welcome!

I've got a draft of an article about SABOK (www.sabok.org) which came out of
the LOPSA Professional Content Committee. I showed it to half a dozen people
and got some great feedback; however I'm not certain I'll have time to finish
the draft in the time remaining.

Nevertheless, I'll put the draft online tonight or tomorrow, and will welcome
your participation

I never did anything. I've never written anything formal since college;
certainly never a real paper submission to a journal.

I'd be willing to help, but with the deadline a week away... we'd need a pretty
motivated person(s) to put it together now.

Did anything ever come of this? Is anyone submitting something with
LOPSA's imprimatur? Or individually?

FYI, the deadline is one week from today.
