First, I'm not speaking as a board member, but speaking for myself.

Every time in the last year that the discussion of what is the future of
LOPSA comes up there is an outcry from a small, but vocal group of members
that nothing could be done and it should just be shut down.

Every time we try and do something new, try something different there is a
cry of "You are doing it wrong. We need to shut down LOPSA!"

Quite honestly nothing makes it harder to get up the energy to go out and
try to improve something you believe in more than having every move you
make derided. It wears on you. Makes you not want to put forth the effort.

The fact that there is a group that can't seem to walk away and let the
organization grow or fail on the merits of the people who want it to
succeed sucks. I would say if you really don't believe in the organization,
then walk away and let it grow or die on the sweat of those that still
care. Sometimes walking away is best for everyone involved.

I don't think that anyone will argue that there are improvements that need
to be made. There are a ton of projects that need to get done. But,
honestly I believe that they can get done, and we can improve. I wouldn't
be on the board if I didn't believe that.
