Of all the things people waste money on, LOPSA seems like a tiny drop in a
vast ocean. Have you (DJB) thought about other ways you could spend your
time trying to improve society (at whatever level) by reducng waste?

Jeff Kaufman is a friend of mine who has thought and written a lot about
the most effective ways to help others (e.g. the "effective altruism"
idea, that you can have a much higher impact by earning a lot of money so
that you have more money to give away (which you should then of course
follow through on doing) than to take a vow of poverty). I bet that
"arguing with other people that they're wasting their money" isn't a very
high-impact way to make a difference, unless the people you're arguing
with are unusually influential or have an awful lot of money.
