For a combination of small file size and compatibility MP3 would have been the best option.
For small file size, with a format that can be played natively by the Squeezeboxes WMA was probably the best bet. But then you sacrifice compatibility. The "proper" answer though would have been to buy a new hard drive, encode to FLAC and worry about encoding to lossy files only when you really need the small file size. -- andynormancx Yes, it will.
