The router probably is just not up to moving so much data, so I'd recommend replacing it with a different model. I had a Netgear router that worked fine until I got Squeezeboxes. After that it would sometimes lock up, either when streaming FLAC or even when copying huge batches of FLACs from my laptop to my server. I put it down to design or hardware weaknesses that are never pushed to the limit with normal network use, but pushed past that limit by audio streaming.
