Could we offer to 'fund' it by community ?
One point which hasn't been mentioned so far is maintenance and running cost. Not only needs new code to be written, but it has to be run, too. Some changes may require more processing overhead than others. And if a solution comes at longer term costs of increased server capacity, then this can be a killer. There's a reason why we never allowed user extentions (plugins) on mysb.com.
