I did not mean static. At least on my ASUS RT-AX86U and my Netgear DGND3700v1 at a 2nd location allows setting a reserved IP address outside the defined DHCP range. Note in the attached image DHCP range is .32-254 and reserved IP addresses are below this range. This ensures that DHCP cannot assign a reserved IP address to any device other than the target MAC address. The reserved addresses are within the same subnet. I consider this method to be a "best practice". At both locations I have my LMS server at 192.168.0.16 so I only need one entry for the LMS UI in all my browser favorites regardless of which location I'm at. +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Filename: Reserved.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37291| +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ Main system - Rock Solid with LMS 8.2.0 on WHS 2011 - 2 Duets and Squeeseslave Cabin system - Rock solid with LMS 8.2.0 on Win10 Pro - 1 RPi 3 Model B/Hifiberry DAC+ Pro/PiCorePlayer and Squeezeslave Squeezebox Boom - "At Large" player around both home and cabin Headphones and car - Android phone/Bluetooth w/full library on MicroSD card - PowerAmp music player app (similar to Material Skin) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ w3wilkes's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=22973 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115873 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
