Why is that your goal? Slimserver's CPU requirements are
next-to-nothing when it's not rescanning. Disk performance is much
more of a problem, especially if it is not the only process requiring
disk access on the host.

FLACed copy around.

I really don't. The whole point of the SB is to be a slim device, so
as much of its behaviour as possible can be changed in the open source
server software. Much less prone to bugs and locked-up units that way.
I DO think however that handling of transcoded streams should be
changed so that they allow seeking.

Anyway, I suggest upgrading your server, keeping a FLACed mirror tree
or, best of all, stop using iTunes.
