The auto-sensing works better if it sees a fairly high input level. (Set the preceding volume level fairly high and use the volume control on the front of the left A5 to reduce the volume to listening level.)
A5's have the port in the rear so they should not be placed up against a wall. I find that 4" is an adequate amount of space.
