Giving it formal stamp would make people take it more seriously.

We are giving people a formal stamp. Anyone who would like a formal
position
will get it. Just ask. The problem is lack of volunteers, not lack of
positions.

Did you try getting a PR person and couldn't get one?

Worse. We got one that didn't do anything.

Lets Make all current yedidim into full members?
This will make gathering the general assembly almost impossible, not to
mention most yedidim don't want to be members.

Ok, then lets send emails to all the yedidim asking them to join in as full
members.

WHY? It was very hard to reduce the number of members to allow for the
assembly to be properly gathered. A member who doesn't come to the assembly
only hurts the amuta as he reduces the chance of reaching the quorum.

Somehow I have a feeling they ment flame wars in the sort of Elad's case
or the arguments on w2l list.

Yes, this is the reason meta was founded. However one member talked to me
specifically about this thread.

We already had that discussion, the moral of people in Hamakor is very
low, more than one person I talked too claimed Hamakor is irrelevent. And
that actualy being a member in it does not good because it is only needed
for money matters. So why would people join?

Hamakor was founded to coordinate and fund the activited of the free
software community in Israel. People should join to financially support this
cause, and to increase our standing with official bodies such as the
government and big companies.

When was the last time anyone actualy tried to convice people to join?

I am actively soliciting members almost every day. More than half of the
members of Hamakor were personally added by me. How many people have YOU
convinced to join?

Like join hamakor to help us be a big org so our voice would have more
weight or something similar?

This is one of the points I raise in trying to convince people to join.
The other is that the money helps fund our activites such as W2L, AP, and
the schools project.

I'm doing my best to find ideas to up moral and get people more active and
passionate about it. Instead of trying to enter this meta thing to every
second discussion how about helping to get good ideas? If you think my
ideas are bad I'll be happy to hear new good ones and would be happy to
contribute in making them come true.

If you have ideas that will increase the number of volunteers, I'm all
ears. Why not set a personal example and volunteer for some role?

No, the board should act, what's making descions?
That's a popular misconception. According to Amutot law:
" הועד ינהל את עניני העמותה ובידיו תהיה כל סמכות שלא נתייחדה בחוק זה או
בתקנון לאסיפה הכללית או למוסד אחר ממוסדות העמותה. "

That is the board should manage, not do. There is no reason people who
actually do work (such as the schools project, or w2l) be on the board. The
board's job is to divide responsibility and manage how things are done, not
to do by itself.

The board should not be a passive body but an active one.
Why should the board be the active body? Why not appoint people who will
take defined roles that will be in charge of these roles? The board is only
three people, and should remain that way. However, the board doesn't have to
do everything. Look at any NPO - the board doesn't put letters in envelopes,
the board doesn't adminsiter mailing lists, the board doesn't deposit
checks. The board is for deciding who will do these tasks, and what tasks
need to be done.

And if you insist the board should be passive then we need some other body
that would be active.
I agree that we need an active party. Preferably, an individual not a
commitee.

That partly what cause the lack of moral and energy in the community IMOH.
People need leadership and leadership is not telling people what to do.
Then what is leadership?

And yea I think that people don't want to run for the board because a lot
of people I talked to view the board as boring grey job and not as
something which actually have affect or give you the power to act and
change.

And they are right. People who actually want to contribute should
volunteer for project managers for any project they are enthuiastic about.
Consider the schools project for example. The project is going well with
minimum intervention from the board. The board is only called to approve
specific expenses, and the bursar writes the checks. In my opinion, that's
how all projects should work. Furthermore, project managers who have proven
themselves should be given a budget to use at their discretion, and only be
required to report what they used the money for to the board after the fact.

Right, chose the most boring mondain job to start with.
How about looking for volunteers for more intresting positions like PR ,
goverment activist and so on?

I agree. I think that this is a good idea. We should put up these jobs for
volunteers. If someone that is qualified and has the time wants the job,
I'll be very pleased.

Just look how successful it is in the School part. We can easily be as
successful in universaty, pushing translations guiding old people and
coordinating with various bodies like charity freedom forums and so on.

I agree.
