Good way to prevent a discussion from entering Godwin-territory :) I should perhaps have mentioned something along the lines of "this is an example of where there is (perhaps) an unnecessary need for a primary key". After all, the fewer places that *must* have x, the easier it is to change the underlying structure of x. To go back off track (wouldn't do to stay on it for long), maybe we need an official place to discuss the use of legacy databases in Django.
