I've been aware of SRS for quite some time and I always thought that
it did address SPF issues caused by forwarding messages.


SRS "didn't work" (catch on) because there is/was a fundamental concept/idea/methodology/philosophy/taboo that the Return Path (5321.MailFrom) should never be changed/altered/tampered with along the transport path/route.

It's the same long time mail engineering ethics mindset against altering the 5322.From original/authoring address to deal with 3rd party issues and ADSP/DMARC strong policies.
