I took a look, and this appears to be essentially the same sender rewriting 
hack that I
set up several years ago on my own lists and that the IETF adapted to lists 
including this one.

It's still a hack, since it forces people to use aliases they do not want and 
do not
control.

I delete the aliases after a few days so they aren't useful for scraping and 
spamming.
