We (dmarc.org participants) tossed around various acronyms as we discussed the name. I'll also point out that the immediate antecedent to DMARC was MOOCOW. ADSP was not a consideration other than problems to avoid. "Authentication" referenced authenticating the domain associated with the RFC822 From email address. Michael Hammer
