yes, i've heard many things about the MOTU828. The only problem is that it's going to cost you half or even more than half of what you paid for your laptop.
i just bought a laptop and picked up the EMI 2|6. It's been working decent. It's a USB device so bandwidth might become a problem but so far I don't think it has been one. The only thing that gives me troubles I believe is the fact there are no Win XP specific drivers for it. Either that or I am unsure of the proper settings to get it running as smooth as possible. I love having a laptop. --kev on 1/2/02 4:25 PM, theRENEGADEkemist at [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > My Suggestion is theMOTU 828! www.motu.com > > Peace out. > therenegadekemist. > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: "Drum & Bass Arena Discussion List" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Thursday, January 03, 2002 9:32 AM > Subject: [dnb-prod] Re: Laptop... > > >> >> Hiya James, >> >> I've got a Dell Latitude c600 here which I have used to do some audio > stuff >> with. >> >> It's a P3 1 ghz with 128 meg / cdrw / 14.1" LCD and it runs better than my >> desktop PC ! >> >> Admittedly I've done no external midi work with it but the internal > generic >> sound card (ESS maestro) >> seem to be fine for lite work. >> >> I use it for working with audio when Im out and about - for things like >> added effects to wavs or >> cutting up the odd breakbeat. >> >> When I get back to base the laptop connects via a mini LAN (crossover) to >> my studio PC where I can take all >> the wavs and up them into my sampler. >> >> I reckon any laptop these days above P3 900mhz will serve you well - as > for >> a dedicated sound card im not too >> sure - but if you dont mind hooking upto a desktop at the end of the day >> this solution is ideal. >> >> Ez >> >> Sol >> (www.djsol.fsnet.co.uk) >> (www.sophonic.com) >> (www.nwdnb.co.uk) >> >> IMPORTANT NOTICE: >> This email is confidential, may be legally privileged, and is for the >> intended recipient only.
