What do you mean master keyboard? Just something for midi control? You can do it all without a keyboard... but having a keyboard makes figuring out melodies etc. a lot easier. even if you're used to just programming them all in (like i do, since i can't play piano or keyboards for shit! hahaha) it's a pain to write out an idea for a melody and then have to go back and click on the keys in reason's piano roll with your mouse until you hit the right ones... takes a step out of the process so you can focus less on interacting with the program and more with the ideas playing themselves out in your head.
For a really long time I had a Nintendo "miracle" which was a REALLY shitty keyboard that came out at least 40 million years ago... but it had a midi out and that's all i needed... if you're not keen on blowing the money you'd need to on something fancy with pitch bends, filters, etc. you could use to output midi, you can easily find a little piece of crap keyboard that would suit your most basic needs. overall yeah, I would recommend getting one though. ~Andy > -----Original Message----- > From: Johnson, Matthew [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Friday, March 21, 2003 8:25 AM > To: Drum & Bass Arena Discussion List > Subject: [dnb-prod] Reason > > > X-Mailer: Internet Mail Service (5.5.2656.59) > Content-Type: text/plain; > charset="iso-8859-1" > > Hi all, > > > can anyone tell me if it is possible to use Reason and Cubase to make a > complete track without using a Master Keyboard??? > > or would it be better for me to go out and purchase one.
