You don't need to remove their DNS servers before transferring.

GoDaddy is full of non sequiturs in their customer service responses also.

I know they're familiar with the transfer policy, since they were happy to quote the new transfer policy months before it went into effect as an excuse for not allowing the transfer of a recently expired domain (actually expired after the transfer request but before the request reached GoDaddy, but that's a different story).
