There is a group that is putting together a Global Domain Name Exchange for the domain resale market, http://gdnx.org/. In theory, Registrars will allow their clients to resell their domains on the exchange. So, instead of just opening up the resale market to other Tucows resellers, this would open it up to all participating Registrars. The GDNX would automatically handle the transfers between Registrars when sales occur. I know that the domain expiration biz is currently hotter than the domain resale market, but I think that is because no one is offering Registrars and Resellers a way to bring it to their customers. They either have to send them to Sedo or Afternic, or they build it themselves, like GoDaddy. I know that my customers would love this service.
