So now you've read the mailing list and things have changed: you are
aware of several resellers in that category, including some large
resellers and people who have given the thing quite a bit of thought and
identified several potential problems.

And in response, Tucows plans to change... ummm, what, exactly? Your
message came across as "We're going ahead with it anyway because we
talked to some people at a trade show who didn't object, and we'll tell
you later why we thought your comments weren't relevant".

As a reminder, you have always stated (to your credit) that domain name
registrants are my customers, not yours. Other than legal requirements
imposed on you by third parties, I therefore naturally expect to decide
how expirations are handled, what renewal notices customers see, whether
it's a good idea to alter their nameservers based on technical
limitations, and so forth. I'm sure you don't believe that it's up to
you to decide any of those things against my will; if you did, Tucows'
promise to remember that these people are my customers would be worthless.

If you can explain the benefits of the new features to us all, and I
decide that I want my customers to participate, then that will be just
fine. Until then, you need take a few moments to talk with whomever
needs to be talked with to make sure that no domain names from my
reseller ID are included; it should be a simple database change on your
end. Thanks!
