Personally, (I think) I'm glad to see it go back to $60 because (I think) I was losing money at $15 since (I think) I was getting banged out for a renewal fee which exceeded my share of the auction price.
All of those "(I think)"s are in the preceding paragraph because the auction process is a confused and confusing mess. I stopped promoting it when I got the impression that it was going to cost me more money than it made; I would have opted out of the program entirely, but I understood that opting-out would cancel any auctions in progress under my reseller account; and, of course, I have no way of finding out if I have any auctions in progress. I did have a few successful auctions complete under my account, but I have no way of finding out what the domain names were, who the winning bidder was, or what the final price was; hence I can't figure out if I really got hit for a renewal fee that exceeded the auction proceeds or not. I pointed out in January that there were at least 3 conflicting descriptions of the auction escrow period published in various places; and that the description in the "auction bidder agreement" is incorrect. I was assured that it would be corrected; but it still states: "Approximately forty (40) days following the close of the auction, Tucows will revise the "whois" to include your information as it appears in our records." As I understand it, the whois information is actually changed somewhere between 60 and 90 days after the close of the auction. It's definitely not 40 days, as an angry customer repeatedly pointed out to me. With the minimum bid back to $60, I'd be inclined to start promoting the auction service again, but I'm not going to do it until the contract is corrected. It doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to correct; and it seems like it would be in Tucows' best interests to have an honest and realistic contract. The agreement also states: "Full details of the auction procedures are available at www.________." That's not a terribly helpful URL. Am I supposed to be able to edit the terms and conditions, or did someone just forget to go back and complete the details?
