Dave's box and your box should just require the svn command-line client:

http://subversion.tigris.org/project_packages.html#binary-packages

The install package includes both the server and client apps.

I've set this up several times on Windows boxes, and I assume setting it up on 
a *nix box would be a piece of cake.
