Thanks Shawn,
": wordtobedefined" worked great, however, even though the MW site came up with the word defined I also got a desktop message "DQSD failed to parse on-line version information. Error message: The download of the specific resource has failed."
And, now when I single, dbl, or right click on the << the tool tray expands and I can't get the DQSD menu but I can get the calendar by right clicking in the search field . The day and date shows fine.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks, Kerry XP Pro

Hi Kerry,
Is there a way to have Merriam Webster be the default dictionary - it has free pronunciation.
You can control DQSD just about any way you could want. To override any existing search with another you just create an alias that overwrites the existing mapping. Add this to localaliases.txt, on it's own line:
dic|mwd %s
This will change the behavior of "dic" to search the Merriam Webster instead. HOWEVER, you can also shorten that a bit by using the default shorter search alias for MW of ":". Try this in DQSD (note the preceeding colon):
:whatever
